News: WFA National Squad update

Below is a statement from the WFA National Team Head Coach regarding the National Squad:
Can I firstly pass on my thanks to all players who attended the three trial camps which I ran over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of working with over twenty players throughout the trials and have been impressed with you all. I would also like to pass on my thanks to all parents and carers for giving up their time to allow players to attend the camps, special thanks are also given to the WFA executive committee who provided the funds to enable the trial weekends to happen.
I would also like to mention the coaches who gave up their time and knowledge to assist in the smooth running of the camps. I now have the unenviable task of selecting the players with whom I would like to prepare and work with for forthcoming international competitions and demonstrations.
Along with the WFA the hard work now begins as we need to secure a sponsor to enable us to run training camps and provide accommodation.
I would like to announce that no National Squad selection announcements will be made until after the EPFA champion’s league finals in April 2010 and the conclusion of the 2009/2010 league.
Due to the rearrangement of the league fixtures this year I would like to allow for all players involved in the national league to fully concentrate on club preparation.
This allows me to observe players during the remainder of our national fixtures; it also allows the WFA to pursue funding opportunities to enable training camps to be of minimal cost to players.
I must stress that this will not necessarily be the squad which will compete at the next world cup, as I will be constantly monitoring player’s performances during the rest of the season and also the season prior to the World Cup in 2011.
Can I finally take this opportunity to wish all players, coaches, parents and volunteers a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
