FIPFA Summit - Atlanta 2006
The England Representative Wheelchair Football team and the WFA have returned from a successful trip to Atlanta, America. The team finished
3rd after playing in the first ever International Wheelchair Football tournament.
The competition saw teams from USA, France, England, Japan, Canada and Demark play in a round-robin format. The England team achieved three impressive wins, beating the USA 2-1, fought hard to beat Canada 1-0, and finished in style with an 8-1 victory over Denmark. They were narrowly beaten by Japan, and lost to the event winners France.
The squad consisted of Sam Bull (captain), Nicky Baker, Jonathan Boulding, Stevie Pearson and Rob Thompson. All these players currently play
for the Aspire Hotspurs (London) and Percy Hedley Panthers (Newcastle).
The England team Coach, James Isaac said "I am extremely proud of the players and I feel with the experience we have gained from this competition will support and progress the development of the sport in England."
Ricky Stevenson, Chairman of the WFA said "The WFA are extremely proud of everyone involved in creating history of this World Game, a lot of hard work by support staff and players has been put in to make this happen."
FIPFA Summit - Further Outcomes
International Set of Rules
The Summit saw all the member countries agreeing to a standard set of competition rules. The rules included the Pitch dimensions, Size of the Ball, criteria for the playing attachment and the number of players.
The WFA are going to adopt these rules as the Standard rules for the sport to be played in England. To view these rules Click Here
Creation of FIPFA (Federation of International Powerchair Football Association)
Delegates from the summit have formed FIPFA. This group will govern Powerchair Football on an International level.
Members of FIPFA Executive Council as follows:

Within the Sports Department there are 5 permanent Commissions and 1 temporary commission and are filled as follows:

- Director of Competitions Commission - Jonathan Newman (USA)
- Director of Rules Commission - Ricky Stevenson (ENG)
- Director of Technical Commission - Franck (FRA)
- Director of Referee’s Comission - Chris Mulholland (USA)
- Director of Paralympics Working Group - Jim Thompson (USA)
Within the Training Department there are 2 permanent Commissions and 1 temporary commission and are filled as follows:

- Director of Coaches Training (Temp) - James Isaac (ENG)
Creation of European Powerchair Football Association (EPFA)
Delegates from the summit have formed EPFA. This group will govern Powerchair Football within the European Zone.
Referees
FIPFA have created a Referee’s Training Commission and appointed a Director of Referee’s Training - Chris Mulholland.
The purpose of the Commission is to develop a method of training Referee's, in order to standardise the level of officiating and ensure that the latest laws of the game are enforced.
