The Wheelchair Football Association (WFA) was formed in 2005 to govern the sport of Powerchair Football in England. The WFA are recognised by the Football Association as the sports governing body and our Laws are sanctioned by them. The WFA work closely with the FA and the "football" network in order to develop more Clubs and playing opportunities across England.
At present the WFA have a National Development Manager, who is employed as part of a three year Football Foundation project. This project is focused on the development of the "grass-roots" of the sport and is designed to help create more clubs, increase the number of players and offer more opportunities to play and compete.

The WFA is run by an Executive Committee, who are all working on a voluntary basis. These members are a mixture of sports professionals, players, Club representatives and Partner organisations. These roles are elected for a period of 4 years, by our members at the Annual General Meeting.
The WFA were a founder member of Federation International of Powerchair Football Associations (FIPFA), and the WFA is considered to be one of the major contributors to the development of the World Game. Currently, the WFA have 2 voting members that work within FIPFA.
The WFA is funded through a variety of funding streams and projects. A large percentage of the costs for competitions and events are funded by the Clubs and the Players themselves. The WFA is constantly trying to source funding or sponsorship in order to enable us to continue the develop of the sport. The WFA had a number of Sponsorship Packages available.
